What you need to know if you want to get the best results

1. Don't be shy to tell them you hate something.
I know it might feel awkward to tell your artist you don't like the lip colour or the eyeshadow but TRUST me, no ones feelings are getting hurt by you having an opinion. Having you being happy and confident in the makeup you're wearing is the most important thing. I'm not offended you didn't like the lipstick... everything in makeup is easily removable and I will gladly change it for you. At the end of the day you are the one wearing it not your artist.
2. Take care of your skin.
Oh you don't have a skin care routine... yikes. Invest in yourself and take care of your skin health. Cleanser, Exfoliator, Serums, Sunscreen and most importantly MOISTURIZER! No matter how much makeup your artist applies on your face it is not going to look good if your skin is not properly cared for.
3. Edited inspiration photos.
Always have inspiration photos for your artist so we can best see your vision, but please don't show us a heavily filtered and facetuned photo of Kim Kardashian. I'm sorry your artist is not a magician who can magically blur your skins texture or fine lines, it's unrealistic. The worst thing you can say to your artist is "make me look younger" or "can you get rid of my wrinkles" unfortunately no I cannot. Please do bring photos of makeup from the artists portfolio or of a photo that isn't edited, your artist would love to make your makeup vision come to life but you need to have realistic expectations.
4.Tamed eyebrows.
Coming to your makeup appointment with your eyebrows groomed will make the makeup look so much more polished. Your eyebrows is one of the most important features on your face and can completely change the way you look. Your artist will recognize and appreciate it.
5. Please no eyelash extensions.
Eyelash extensions, while they are beautiful, your makeup artist hates them. Applying makeup especially eyeshadow and eyeliner becomes so much harder and messier for your artist. Extensions also completely over take your makeup and the crazy elaborate eyeshadow you wanted won't even be seen. I'm not saying no eyelashes at all! Your artist has eyelashes in their kit that would flatter your makeup and compliment your look as well.
